After detailing the advantages of each, we will delve into two basic categories of hiking shoes and their attributes. And, finally, we will guide you to buy the appropriate mountain shoes for your foot with a suitable fit and sizing.

Types of hiking shoes

Mountain Boots

For decades, hiking boots have been the best option for miles and miles of road. For people who carry more than 20 kilos and often walk on mud and snow, they are still the best option. The boots protect the ankle and are warmer when it’s cold. The modern hiking boots usually weight 1.5 kilos, much lighter than the old models made entirely of leather that can weigh up to three kilos. If you are interested in this type of footwear, you can visit the category of mountain boots where we will guide you so you can buy the best ones.

Running hiking shoes

Innovations in materials and design have allowed an ultralight approach so that the most passionate backpackers enjoy hiking. Lightweight shoes are widely used among light-weight hikers and hundreds of kilometers of experience. Today the running hiking shoes weigh approximately 700 grams. The more heavy shoes, like the Salomon XA Pro 3D, are ideal for fast-moving hikers. These shoes work very well for some but have insufficient support and durability for others.

Hiking Shoes

The hiking shoes include more durable soles with excellent traction, a good design of the midsole to improve the support of the foot. This provides greater comfort for kilometers with light loads and includes waterproof coatings to keep feet dry under challenging conditions. Hiking shoes are often the most stylish footwear among people who find themselves hiking. They approach the point of good stability with a great lightness that makes you feel agile. After making numerous assessments, the average weight of all pairs was 1kg. This type of boot is more suitable than hiking boots and more durable than running hiking shoes.

Which is better, bring mountain shoes or boots?

A common question for beginning hikers is: Should I choose a low-cut or mid-height shoe? A pair of mountain boots often weighs more than mountain shoes and many times this weight gain is decisive when it comes to preferring lighter models. The conditions, the distances to cover, and the personal resistance of the ankle and foot are essential factors. Not all people have the same preparation or are accustomed to long journeys. The boots provide more protection against mud, snow, and water, and are a must for rough terrain with heavy loads. Hiking boots are also hotter than a low cut shoe.

  • Hikers with ankle problems know that ankle stability is the main reason to choose boots instead of mountain shoes. The medium cut boots allow you to stabilize and support the ankle in rough terrain or when carrying a backpack, while no type of mountain shoe is going to offer it.

Hiking covers a whole range of fun activities, including day trips that require minimal equipment. Hiking trails or long routes on rugged terrain are some of them. Hiking also covers short backpacking trips with light or medium loads or long trips with light backpacks where a reduced weight of equipment becomes a priority.

If you wear a piece of lightweight equipment, you do not have a pack or your ankles are strong enough, and you have good agility when it comes to hiking, we recommend buying mountain shoes. Enjoy the lightness, comfort, and agility they provide.

A clarification regarding the weight of the equipment

We often refer to light, medium and heavy weights for hiking and backpacking routes. When we say the term “light load” refers to the complete equipment up to 10 kilos. This can be a day trip or backpackers with very light gear. By average loads, we are 10 to 18 kilos. It is a remarkable weight to wear, and footwear that offers good foot support is essential. Any equipment over 18 kilos is heavy. Most people prefer hiking boots for these types of loads.

Day trip

A day of hiking is perfect for wearing mountain shoes. When the plan is to start and finish the route on the same day, hiking shoes are your best ally. A bottle of water in your hand, a rain jacket tied around your waist, and a camera in your pocket. It is common to also carry a small package with additional clothes, maps, camera equipment, and snacks. It is a piece of very light equipment but enough for a day of hiking. This type of excursions is characterized by small, lightweight equipment that makes us enjoy the day to the fullest. All mountain shoe evaluations we have are outstanding options. Before choosing any model to consider the terrain and the conditions where you will walk and choose the shoes that match your needs. Your final choice has to be based on your personal preferences and the style of footwear that you like the most. Buying comfortable and lightweight mountain shoes are easy. Take a look at the HOKA Tor Speed 2, an excellent option for day trips.

Rapid hiking

When long hiking routes are made at a high pace to cover long distances, light footwear is essential. Thanks to the mountain shoes it is possible to make long courses on irregular terrains at a high velocity. Our evaluations revolve around mountain shoes for long walks on the mountain and challenging terrain. In addition to different altitude to irregular rhythm with sections of descent.

Hiking shoes offer unsurpassed foot support for running mountain shoes. The Salomon X Ultra Low 2 GTX, aggressive and rigid sole, is one of the best shoes for fast hiking and is right in different terrains whether dry sediment, wet or loose. The Adidas Terrex Swift R GTX is another model that surprise by design and with which you can run with a sense of movement.

Backpacking with light or medium loads

The hiking shoes are perfect for transporting medium and light equipment on trails. Hikers who from time to time want to enjoy the road with total lightness, choose the support and durability offered by a low cut model. Experienced backpackers with strong ankles can enter difficult terrain with mountain shoes designed for excursions with medium weight equipment. The North Face M Hedgehog Fastpack GTX model is excellent for multi-day backpacking trips.

Hiking trails

When hiking on popular routes, you will see that most people wear low-cut hiking shoes or trail running shoes that are the second most popular option. Those who are accustomed to extreme distances prefer to reduce weight and increase comfort by choosing mountain shoes instead of boots and enjoy the additional help and durability that mountain running shoes do not offer. The Keen Targhee II model is a prevalent type of footwear for hiking and long trips with light loads. It has a rigid sole with excellent support and a full leather upper that can withstand a beating.

Hikers who embark on these trips tend to be experts with high strength and strength in feet and ankles.

What mountain shoes to choose for hiking

If you opt for the mountain shoes to go hiking, you do not know which model to choose, since there are several brands that make dozens of models. Which one should you buy? Because this type of footwear is very versatile, it fits the expectations of different kinds of hikers. Several models that we have analyzed in depth have medium cut versions that look like hiking boots, however, the low cut versions are similar to running mountain shoes.

First of all, we have models that look like mountain boots. Four of the shoes we have tested are designed and manufactured in a similar way to hiking boots. As described above, the shoes have an intermediate sole and a full-length shank, which support the foot under loads and provides stability to the torsion. Mountain shoes have very similar characteristics to achieve that stability. Except the Columbia Redmond, each of these models has a rod between the sole and the sole. Below you can see the different models from most to least support.

  • Keen Targhee 2
  • Merrell Moab Edge Waterproof
  • Columbia Redmond

The Targhee II offers the most foot support and feels the most similar to a rugged hiking boot stand. The low price of this shoe and the small cut with a support sole make it accessible for hikers. The Moab Edge Waterproof is very close and has excellent traction for a variety of surfaces, but does not excel in support and stability under medium loads.

Second, we have mountain shoe evaluations with certain similarities to running shoes. The fit, the heel rise above the instep and the sole are very similar to the boots used by mountain runners. People who come from sports such as mountain cross will find the fit of these shoes very familiar. This footwear is lighter in general, although the Redmond model from Columbia is also very similar. The factors that we use to classify footwear take into consideration characteristics such as weight and comfort when performing the activity, although they are closely linked to one another. If you decide to buy lightweight mountain shoes, you can see these ratings in order of weight, starting with the lightest model.

  • Adidas Terrex Swift R GTX
  • The North Face M Ultra
  • Vasque 7342 Inhaler II low Synthetic fiber
  • La Sportiva Bushido
  • Hoka Tor Speed 2
  • Salomon X Ultra 2 GTX

The North Face Ultra is one of the most attractive and versatile models. It is a model of mountain shoes that work well for hiking in rugged terrain as in steep terrain. It is light and breathable, worse remember that it is not waterproof, so beware of puddles. It is a great option to move fast in the desert or any other dry climate. The Adidas Terrex Swift R GTX is super athletic and lightweight, but it is not the most comfortable. The Hoka Tor Speed 2 is thick and bulky, but its sole is very soft and has a magnificent shock absorption property. This model allows you to take off in flat and descending sections.

Support and weight of the mountain shoes

The amount of support you need depends on how many miles you walk, how smooth or rough the surface of the terrain is and how much weight you carry. The more lasting your adventures, the more you will benefit from choosing a shoe with more support and torsional stability for rough trails or off-piste terrain. This type of footwear is more resistant and has greater support that reduces foot fatigue when carrying the weight of the equipment, in addition to providing the comfort that the foot needs.

They are enjoying the landscape while hiking is a priority for any mountaineer. Modern materials and innovative manufacturing techniques have created beautiful designs in footwear, and these improvements have helped today any hiker can enjoy support, comfort, and performance that did not exist a few years ago. When we last examined this type of footwear in 2015, the most massive mountain shoes had 1.4 kilos and the lightest 1 kilo. However, in 2017 the heaviest is 1.2 kilos while the brightest barely reach 900 grams. Thanks to this introduction of lighter materials the weight decreases every year. Our advice is that you choose the lightest footwear that satisfies both the support needs and the durability expectations.

Use waterproof membrane on mountain shoes?

Keeping your feet as dry as possible is what all hikers want during their hiking trails. Dry feet are colder when it’s hot, and hotter when it’s cold. Wet skin is also a significant cause in the appearance of blisters, which ruin any trip. The breathable waterproof membranes keep your feet safe from soaking while you walk through puddles, in small streams, mud or the dawn of dawn that in some climates you get to wet your feet. Keep in mind that non-waterproof shoes are much more breathable than those that have waterproof membranes. Many hikers have transmitted to us the disadvantage of waterproof membranes when walking in hot weather. If in the majority of the occasions you will walk in dry trails or hot weather, Choose mountain shoes without a membrane and enjoy the best breathability. The waterproof membranes add warmth to the footwear and provide great performance for cold weather routes.

Mountain shoes: fit and search of the ideal size

The comfort and performance of the footwear are determined to a large extent by the way it fits your feet. The best way to look is to try many pairs of similar shoes to find the model and size that best suits your foot. Some types of sneakers made by manufacturers are designed for narrow feet with a low instep. “La Sportiva” is a brand that tends to manufacture under this characteristic. Others present models for a wider foot, and even some manufacturers offer footwear with different width options.

If possible, you should go to a department store where you can try a multitude of different models. Although it is true that it is complicated to find the perfect mountain shoes to the first, as it is a matter of time. The best thing is to buy the model that is most comfortable for you, and after doing hundreds of kilometers, then you will notice if you need a different one: wider, more significant, lighter or who knows, you guessed right the first time. When you try different models remember to wear your socks that you use more frequently and if you use unique templates the same. While trekkers who wear boots tend to wear thick wool socks, the best thing for mountain shoes tends to be fine wool or synthetic sock.

If your routes take place in cold climates, start by wearing thick wool socks. On the other hand, if the weather is warm or hot, it is better to use a thin plastic sock.

Finding a boot that fits your foot well is even more important to be a boot or shoe style. The collars located at the ankle height of the shoes, provide an adjustment that is used to keep the foot in place to protect them from sprains. A narrow foot in the broader boot is difficult to secure. If you are new to this field, we recommend that when buying mountain shoes you opt for an average size more substantial than the shoes you usually wear on the street. The Brannock device, which gives a measure of length and width of your foot is a perfect tool to provide accurate measurements and thus choose the shoe that comes closest.

When you are going to choose a particular footwear model, you have to be sure that the size is correct and that it fits well on foot. This prevents the heel from sliding up and down inside. To avoid blisters, the tips of the toes should never touch the front of the shoe. Loosen the laces and slide the foot to the front. There should be about one finger of space, or the width of the little finger, between the shoe and the heel. When you tie your mountain shoes, slip the heel to the back, and make sure you link them well on the instep. When you choose a model, try walking a bit around the store to notice sensations, walk down a ramp or stairs if you can, and especially if the foot stays in contact with the back of the shoe.

As you get closer to the final decision, many people find themselves undecided between two sizes. Our feet swell a little when we are hiking and more in long hiking days. A thicker sock or a special insole make it necessary to have larger footwear. Always choose the largest size if you do not know which one to choose from.

How to get a perfect fit on your shoes

Footwear with an elegant and comfortable fit is essential for all hikers. The use of a slightly thicker sock helps people with low-profile feet get a snug fit without having to squeeze excess cords. If the shoe you like has a bit of slack or slip notes on the heel part, try to adjust it as much as possible with a slightly thicker sock. Or try the same half number minus model with a thinner sock. And best of all, try them at once, one in each good and walk. In this way, you will notice exactly the difference.

Footwear that has a traditional eyelet, or two together at the top, gives you the flexibility to experience different ways of tying shoelaces. By passing the cord through them, you will get greater ankle support. In this way, your ankle will be firmer and safer, while your footprint will be more stable

Many of the hikers replace the standard template, either from the beginning or when it starts to wear out, which usually happens before the wear of the shoes themselves. When buying thicker or thinner insoles (do not be afraid to mix and match with your current shoes) you will get perfectly fit the inside of the footwear to your foot.

How to Calibrate a Telescopic Sight With Buying Tips

Telescopic Sight: When you buy a telescopic sight for the first time, you may have the impression that you will not know how to mount it properly on your rifle and, usually, you go to friends or professionals who can help you do it so that your viewer is fully adjusted to your gun and put to zero.

In this article, I will give you some guidelines on how you can do it yourself in a simple way and with words that you understand to make it even easier for you. This process has no mystery, and that is why, when you finish reading this post, you will realize how easy it is.

What do the numbers on a telescopic scope mean?

I am referring to the nomenclature that appears in the sights, such as 24 X 50 or 6-24 x 50, which is usually a standard format and which provide you with all the performance information you can expect.

Telescopic Sight

⇒ Fixed magnification view (ex: 24 x 50)

The first number indicates the number of times you can increase what you are looking at, in this case, it would increase 24 times the actual size. The higher this number, the greater the increase. The second number (measured in mm) is the degree of opening, that is, the diameter of the head of the scope (the front part of the scope). The higher that number, the greater the visual field and the greater the light input.

With this last point you have to be careful because the larger the diameter of the scope, depending on the rifle that you are going to use, it will force you to take it off so you can install it to the stock, so your face will be low, and it will be difficult to focus.

⇒ Look for variable magnification (3-9 x 50)

In this case, the first two numbers mean that you can increase the size of what you are seeing 3 times to 9 times. Likewise, the second number means the degree of opening or diameter of the head of the scope, which is measured in mm. These sights are ideal for all those who practice long distance shooting.

Tips for buying an excellent telescopic sight

So that the view is of good quality and allows you to work with her in all light environments, you have to spend as much or more money than the cost of the rifle. The quality of the scope is measured according to the quality of the crystals with which it is manufactured and the sharpness it offers from the environment in lousy lighting conditions.

Keep in mind that a look is not to buy it every day, on the contrary, it is possible that you change your rifle and the watch will continue to be worth it because, if you take good care of it and choose the one that best suits what you are looking for, you can last a lifetime

If you plan to use the rifle to shoot at different distances, you should opt for a variable magnification sight, while if the distances vary very little, with a fixed magnification view you have more than enough.

If you are going to use the rifle in low light conditions, I recommend that the reticle is illuminated so you can have a better view of where the point of impact is in low light conditions. You can find both fixed increase and variable increase.

The more increases the scope has, the more difficult it will be to have it stable because of the vibrations we make when holding it, so it is not necessary to have any increases if later it will cost you to hit the target.

If you can afford it, look for German, Austrian or Swiss telescopic sights, and as a second option those manufactured in the United States. In my experience, do not trust Chinese brands because they can give you a hare.

If you are looking for a telescopic sight that is polyvalent, I recommend a fixed magnification of 6 x 42. In the case that you look for a precision sight, I recommend that the reticle be fine.

How to calibrate a telescopic scope

Before zeroing your telescopic sight, you must mount it on the rifle. For this, I recommend that you place it in a place where it does not move and stay fixed so that the assembly is the best possible. Once you have done this, you have to place it on the mount, and the rings, whose separation distance between the sight and the rifle should be about 1.5 “, and tighten it leaving it slightly loose.

To align it concerning the rifle you have to find that the rifle’s rifle point coincides with the center of the point of the scope and that is where you must make the last adjustments to tighten the rings and leave it fastened.

Once you have mounted the rifle sight, you only have to go to the shooting range and do the tests to calibrate it. I leave a video so you can see visually how to do it in a fast and straightforward way.

Distance to calibrate a telescopic scope

The range to calibrate a telescopic scope will depend on the type of rifle barrel you have (not all rifles behave in the same way from certain distances), the ammunition and the kind of shot that you will generally perform.

If you are going to shoot from a distance of 14 to 60 meters, I recommend you calibrate the sight at 40 meters so that the margin of error is minimal in the minimum and maximum distance.

If instead, you want to shoot at longer distances, the first thing you have to take into account is if your cannon can make effective shots at that distance and then you should see if the ammunition is effective at those distances. You can see an example in the attached image of the caliber 308 Winchester.

Anyway, I leave you a video where you can see both the way to zero your rifle as well as the process to calibrate the scope telescope over long distances.

Conclusion

As you have been able to verify, calibrating a telescopic sight is not a complicated task, and I hope that, with the information and the steps to follow that I offer you in this article, I will help you to do it without problems. Remember that the diameter of the pupil of a normal eye is 7mm so if you want to make an optimal opening rule of the objective you can divide the diameter of the target between the increases, the number 7 not exceeding the result.

Maxofit® Deluxe Reviews and Analysis

Maxofit® Deluxe: A few weeks ago we put at your disposal a comparison of our best Freeride and Cruising longboards. I hope our selection will help you find a board that will fit your lifestyle.

We are going to present you the Deluxe MAXOfit® Drop Through now, and we will give you the technical characteristics as well as our test and opinion on this longboard.

Technical features of the Deluxe MAXOfit® Drop Through

  • Length / Width: 104 cm / 25cm
  • Use: Freeride, Cruising
  • Brand: MAXOfit® Tres Cruces
  • Materials: 9 plies of Canadian maple
  • Weight: 4 kg
  • Trucks: Reverse, Inverted Slant
  • Ball bearing: Abec 11
  • Diameter / Width of the wheels: 70mm / 51mm
  • Wheel Material: PUC SH 78A

The board :

Here we have a board with nine plies of Canadian maple which is perfect at the level of resistance and flexibility. Most planks offer only seven plies of maple and often medium qualities because some woods are composed of small knots that reduce the flexibility of the board, which makes it more brittle. MaxOfit offers us a perfect board to walk or ride, and that will also last in time!

Wheels and ball bearings:

Composed of Abec 11, the fastest bearings that exist, and Puc SH 78a wheels, which offer excellent grip, our longboard will then achieve tremendous speeds. It will be essential to pay attention to the imperfections of the road because the Abec 11 are on the other hand very fragile and you will inevitably have to change them in your life. As for the wheels I want to specify that a user exceeding the 80 kg will have to change the hardness of its wheels like that of types  83a,   90a, and 95a which are more rigid.

Pads and erasers:

Still, nothing to say for erasers and pads! They are perfect, and the components used are of good quality which offers optimal flexibility and perfect damping during turns and grinds, ideal for the Free ride!

The conclusion of the MaxOfit

It’s the best board I’ve tested that meets all the criteria to go from cruising to freeride. The wood is excellent with nine plies of Canadian maple, ABEC 11 ball bearings that offer more momentum and speed and pads and eras of good quality! The price is reasonable because we have a product that meets our expectations. However, we would have liked a broader color range or an amount more of 150 – 160 euros.

The 7 Best Wind Anemometers | Review | Advantage & Cons

Best Wind Anemometers: You might think the wind anemometer is a very sophisticated instrument, but it is not. Nowadays there are small anemometers that you can take to the mountain, and that you connect to your mobile to do the readings. Yes, you’ve heard it well, thanks to advances in technology, you can find very cheap, small-sized anemometers that connect to your smartphone. The most common are casserole anemometers.

Wind Anemometers

Buy the anemometer that best suits your needs, and you can know precisely the wind speed. The anemometer is a handy instrument when doing mountain sports to avoid dangerous situations.

Buy your wind anemometer here

We have the best wind anemometers you can find in the market. You can also buy the new cup anemometer for a mobile phone. The cup anemometer for a smartphone is very easy to use so you have to download the application on your mobile and you’re done!

This anemometer has no digital components to transfer data to the mobile. It works correctly with smartphones with magnetometers. 4 little magnets at the base of the cups interact with the intelligent device, which in turn translates the magnetic data into the wind speed using an algorithm. To use it, you have to bring the anemometer closer to the mobile with the application open. It is not necessary to place it in the headphone jack, although it is convenient since you will get more stability. It is also compact to carry in any mountain backpack.

What is an anemometer for?

The Anemometer is an instrument that is used to measure the wind speed and is one of the major parts of a weather station. Choosing an anemometer can be complicated. You can find a lot of types of anemometers, each with its unique style and functionality. To select the most appropriate, you must take into account certain factors and aspects. These are some of the most critical elements you need to buy your perfect anemometer.

Types of wind anemometers

First, you must decide what kind of anemometer you need and are willing to buy. Here are the most popular types of anemometers that can be very useful in the mountains.

Bowl anemometer

Cup anemometers are the most common. A cup anemometer consists of 2, 3 or 4 cups that rotate on a vertical axis. The bowl turns when the wind blows, and an integrated sensor measures the rotation, which then becomes the reading of the wind speed.

Advantage

  • This type of anemometer does not need to point towards the source to detect the wind speed.
  • Cup anemometers are highly reliable and resistant.

Cons

  • The anemometer will sometimes have a very high starting speed.
  • Low measurements are not studied very well.
  • In turbulent conditions, cup anemometers can underestimate wind speeds.
  • They can give bad readings due to the formation of ice.
  1. Propeller anemometers

Propeller anemometers have a mechanism similar to pan anemometers, but the sensors of a propeller anemometer are shaped like a windmill or turbine. Unlike pan anemometers, this type of anemometer must be parallel to the wind and rotate on a horizontal axis.

Advantage

  • They work in environments with pollution and are more resistant and durable than other anemometers such as a hot wire.
  • Propeller anemometers can handle high wind speeds.

Cons

  • To obtain the best result or accurate readings, the unit must be pointing toward the source.
  • Anemometers with smaller propellers usually have higher starting speeds.
  • As with pan anemometers, the rotating parts of the propeller anemometers also wear out with use over time.
  1. Hotwire anemometers

Hotwire anemometers work with a completely different mechanism. In a hot wire anemometer, a thin wire inside the equipment is electrically heated, which cools when the wind flows. By knowing the current required to maintain the temperature of the fence, the hot wire anemometer calculates the heat loss and gives us the value of the wind speed.

Advantage

  • It offers a low initial threshold.
  • There are no rotating parts, so this equipment lasts longer compared to the bowl anemometer or the propeller anemometer.
  • It provides high precision reading, with quick response.
  • The sensor is smaller in size.

Cons

  • Large particles of air can damage the device, so this type of anemometer is not recommended for dirty environments.
  • It is not appropriate for places with rapid fluctuations in temperature, as it would give erroneous readings.
  1. Anemometers of Pitot tubes

Pitot tube anemometers measure the wind pressure to obtain the wind speed reading. This type of anemometer has two cells: one of the machines has a central hole that measures the dynamic pressure and a lateral hole that measures the static pressure, while the other tube only has a side hole. The air velocity is calculated thanks to the pressure difference with the Bernoulli equation.

Advantage

  • It can usually handle very high temperatures and airspeed.
  • Pitot tubes are tiny and can easily be inserted into the duct.
  • They do not have rotating parts, so they do not wear quickly.
  • Offers a quick response

Cons

  • The equipment must be oriented towards the wind flow.
  • It is not supported for places with very fluctuating wind flow.
  • It is not proper for areas with low airspeed.
  1. Sonic anemometers

Sonic anemometers are the most advanced. Ultrasonic sound waves are used by the sonic anemometer to measure the wind speed. The wind speed is regulated depending on the time of flight taken by sonic pulses between the transducers.

Advantage

  • You can capture measurements with excellent temporal resolutions of 20Hz or more.
  • Resistant to the weather and unlikely to fail due to the effect of icing.
  • They have no rotating parts, so this type of anemometer has greater durability than the cup anemometer and the propeller anemometer.

Cons

  • Very rare and more valuable than other types of anemometers.
  • They are usually fixed and not portable
  • If a bird perches on the sonic anemometer, it can cause problems, resulting in abnormally high false wind gusts.

Accuracy assessment

When evaluating the quality of an anemometer, the accuracy rating is the most critical factor to consider. The degree of accuracy of the unit means how accurate the reading provided by a particular anemometer is. For best results, always look for an anemometer that has an efficiency of ± 0 to ± 5%.

Wind speed and response

Wind speed is an essential aspect that you should consider. A real anemometer will usually have a wind speed report that ranges from 0 to 100 mph or more. The answers provided by the anemometer should be quick. The wind speed can usually fluctuate rapidly, so the team should be able to give a quick and updated response to the reading of the wind speed.

Size and Design

The different types of anemometers come with very different sizes and designs. For example, you can find propeller anemometers with the size of the propeller more or less extensive and some pan anemometers with more or fewer cups. Propeller anemometers with huge propellers are better than the smallest ones as mentioned above. In the same way, the anemometer with 3 cups is more precise than the one with 4 cups. The hot wire anemometer with longer cables is better, since the more excellent the location of the wind sensor, the more accurate the reading will be. These characteristics are important when choosing an anemometer.

Manufacturing

The material and the manufacture of the anemometer are necessary factors since they directly influence its durability. The anemometer will be continuously exposed to the outdoor environment and will face the most stringent weather conditions, so be sure to buy a significant and robust anemometer that can withstand the worst climates.

In general, pan anemometers and propeller anemometers cannot withstand ice, and fail due to the effect of ice, although you can buy high-end pan anemometers that can work even in freezing weather. Once again, thanks to advances in technology, there are pan anemometers and helical anemometers with shallow friction parts, which last much longer than normal ones.

Colour

The color of the anemometer is important for places that are often affected by ice. The anemometers are available in two colors, black and white. Both types are susceptible to ice formation, but black anemometers thaw faster than whites.

Other features

There are many other features that you can look at, such as electrical and mechanical components, accessibility for cleaning and maintenance, and digital pulse data that help prevent electrical interference from various sources, such as radio transmission.

Final Word

Keeping an anemometer is not a simple task, and it may take some time. Although the expensive units are the best, there are also some low-end anemometers with high functionality and durability. It does not matter what your budget is. If you consider all the circumstances specified above, you can easily find the most suitable one. Take the necessary time and select the best one.

Need for Personal Defense in the Face of Increasing Public Insecurity

Need for Personal Defense: Citizen insecurity has increased, causing the simple fact of going out on the street, can cause anxiety and uncertainty to people. Today we talk about the methods that citizens have to protect themselves.

Need for Personal Defense

In recent months, the entire Shoke Store team has received a large number of doubts and questions about an issue that nowadays seems essential: personal defense and the products that are there to ensure it. These questions also came from all kinds of people beyond their sex and age, who felt insecure or who believed that some member of their family, partner or friends, could be.

And is that in recent times all citizens have witnessed regrettable cases that have caused us some insecurity and fear, which has been increased by laws that can sometimes be too lax and that many have come to believe that protect more the person who commits the crime than the victim of his act. And it is because of this question that citizens ask themselves if they are unprotected or there is something they can do to protect themselves against possible aggressors or attackers. Today we want to dedicate this article to detail the legal methods of self-defense that you have, which we believe can be useful both to you and to people around you.

1st courses of self-defense

In Shoke Store we have been doing personal defense courses for women for years, but like this option, you have other possibilities such as martial arts courses or boxing. Thanks to these courses you will learn all kinds of exercises for the different situations that you can face, and you will gain security, noticing that if something happened to you, now you can answer.

We believe that if you feel uncertainty or fear, you must take one of these courses of defense person because not only will give you a reasonable basis, but also the ability not to be paralyzed before a dangerous situation or risk.

2nd Sprays of personal defense

The questions that most times we answer in SHOKE, have to do with the sprays of own security: what is the best model? Is it legal? How should I use it?

The first thing you should know is that YES, it is legal for all those who are over 18 years old, so it is the instrument of personal defense that we always recommend that you take with you. On the contrary, anti violator sprays that you can do at home and whose tutorials continuously appear on the Internet are not only illegal but can be dangerous for the carrier, since it has not gone through the security measures that the sprays have had — approved personal defense.

Concerning the best models, at Shoke Shop we always recommend Fito personal defense sprays for their type of gas, which allows pepper gas to reach the attacker’s eyes without having hit them directly. You must bear in mind that gel pepper sprays do require that aim that if at any moment it can be difficult, in a situation of fear it is much more. However, we have created an infographic so that you know in a much more visual way the characteristics of the different sprays.

Finally, its method of use is very simple; you have to press it and spray it on the aggressor. Its gas and air format will do the rest. This pepper gas makes the person incapacitated for 15-20 minutes, which allows you to run away without problems. Another option is to combine this spray with the panic button that generates a loud noise that will attract the attention of people who may be close to you and will allow you a better escape.

Shoke store sincerely hopes that very soon we have to see in the press really sad cases and that all people feel safe again living their life as they choose and that the simple fact of going out at night, dress as you want or just Knowing someone does not cause certain insecurity in people. Meanwhile, we hope these self-defense tips have been useful for you.

Route of the Three Refugees Practical information

Once you get to any of the beginnings of the Route of the Three Refugees, you will feel crazy to extend your trip, not having to be aware of the time, to enjoy these landscapes to the fullest. The first step you take takes you to contemplate green valleys, steep peaks, and an infinite sky both day and night.

route of the three refuges practical information

The Route of the Three Refugees runs through the Natural Park of Posets-Maladeta in the Aragonese Pyrenees and goes around the Massif of the Posets. This journey explores trails in the valleys at 1,300 m and overhangs rocky hills at 2,964 m, takes you to glacial lakes and fording rivers, resting your eyes on the peaks and birds in the air. Although it requires a good physical form and a minimum of experience in the high mountains, this itinerary is quite affordable. In addition, it is very comfortable, since it is perfectly marked and with shelters kept at a very bearable distance from each other.

Hydration Backpacks For Great Adventurers

We made the Tres Refugios route in August, and both the direction of the march and the starting point were conditioned by the availability in the shelters. However, you can start at any other point, go in the opposite direction, link with the Trans-Pyrenees Route or stay longer in the area doing ascents or small excursions. In the next post, we will detail each stage of our route and offer several options to stay more days in the area.

In this post we give you the practical information, we share our impressions and, of course, we show pictures of the three-day journey through the Aragonese Pyrenees.

Route of the Three Refugees Practical information

Ruta de Los tres Refugios is a circular route through the Aragonese Pyrenees for a minimum of 3 days. The three refuges through which this passage passes are: the refuge of Estos, the refuge of Biadós and the refuge of Ángel Orus (or Forcau). In my opinion, it is one of the routes of the high mountain of the Pyrenees easier to organize and carry out.

Accesses of the route of the three Refuges

It has three entrances: from the Estos car park, the Espigantosa car park or from the Viados car park.

Parking of Viados

It has the capacity for approx. 20-30 cars, scattered on the track, some better parked and others, in rather precarious conditions. You arrive by car to the shelter (at 1,700m). You have to travel 10 km of dirt track, partially paved, from Gistain (there is a sign for Refugio de Viados, the detour marked on our map.The track does not appear in Google Maps, it can only be seen in the Earth version ). If there are no seats available at all, you should turn around and go down until you find a space. We leave the car in front of Camping de Forcallo (1,574m, 1 km below the shelter). It took approx. 20 min. In arriving at the refuge from the campsite.

Parking of the Espigantosa (La pleta d’Estallo)

It is 1,550m high at about 5 km along the forest track of the town of Eriste and 6.3 km from the shelter Argel Orus (or Forcau) , at 2,100m high. According to MIDE, the duration of the route between the parking and the shelter is about 2 hours, + 595m. It passes through the waterfall of the Espigantosa.

From July 1 to September 12, the track between Eriste and the parking lot is closed, but there is a shuttle from Eriste (there is a parking lot next to the municipal swimming pools where you can leave your car). You can also take this shuttle in Sahun. Look at the photo to know the prices and schedules.

Schedule and departures of the shuttle bus to the parking lot to reach the refuge of Angel Orus If you prefer, you can walk; Between Eriste and the Espigantosa parking, there is approx. 1.45 hr for PR-HU 36.

Parking Estos

The Estos car park is 1,300 m, and it would have to be + 605m to reach the Estos refuge, 1,890m high. The route is less than 9 km, and it takes approx. 2.5 hrs. The road is perfectly marked as GR11 (white and red).

Where to sleep during the route of the three shelters

The classic way is to make use of the three shelters: Estos, Viados, Angel Orus. The easiest way to make the reservation is to go to the Hostels and shelters of Aragón page and make the multiple reservations. On the web, on the left side, you will see the box with shelters, shelters and other establishments. In shelters, we choose where we would spend the first night, and the system will guide you. You will have to pay a bond that is lost if you do not show up. The rest is paid in each shelter. In Estos only cash, in Angel Orus they accept credit cards.

Number One Trekking in South America

To know how much each refuge costs (they have different prices), you have to choose the refuge and go to the ” prices ” section. In the reservation, you will not see the final price, only the deposit. This website has links to all the shelters, where you can see more detailed information: what services they offer, how to get there, etc.

To sleep in the shelter, the use of a sleeping bag or saco-sabana is mandatory.

The Children and Federated have discounts.

Tent

Another option is to carry a tent. According to the rules of the park, you can camp at dusk and lift the tent at dawn. It is recommended to ask the guards for the most suitable places to camp.

Campsites

One way to save night shelters (which leave approx € 16 / person), is to stay the first night in one of the campsites. We spend the night in El Forcallo (in Viados access). € 13 / both and shop. We left the car parked outside at night, and so we did not have to worry about doing it as early as possible, as the cars begin to arrive and look for parking from 7:00. This camping has hot water, bathrooms, a small restaurant where you can order lunch/dinner/ breakfast. The environment is very beautiful and quiet, as long as you get as far as possible from the generator that produces noise and nauseating smells from 9.00 until 23.00.

On the side of Estos, there are a couple of campsites where you can also stay the night of arrival and leave the car. We do not know them, but some Senderistas told us that we met along the way. In this case, it is not necessary to reach the Estos refuge if the route is made in the Angel Orus refuge direction. You can link with the GR 11.2 in the Ibonet de Bastisielles or past the Grande ibis de Bastisielles, passing through the Ibon de la Escarpinosa.

Where to eat during the route of the three shelters

In shelters or carrying food. The truth, we were surprised that 99% of the people who spend the night in the refuge order all the meals. We only went four people – us and a couple of French people – who used the kitchen.

Reflection: If they do not carry food, or bags, only sack-savannahs, nor climbing or mountaineering equipment, what will they bring in their 70 L backpacks? We, with our 30L and 35L, with food, cooking equipment, emergency kit, sacks!  and even thinking that we could have lightened the weight because there were things that we did not put (the ones in the case in ca
